The Urban Gurvi Mama Shop was founded in September 2016 in the 1 bedroom apartment of Shontel Anestasia in Harlem, NYC. TUGMS was an online platform for women to learn about different facets of spirituality such as Metaphysics, Astrology, Numerology, Sound Healing, and Caribbean Herbal Remedies. The more Shontel Anestasia taught on Instagram & Youtube the larger her audience grew and within 3 months order requests poured in. For a year, she hand-delivered items to the 5 boroughs in manhattan.
In November 2017, Shontel opened her Etsy Shop. She ran TUGMS part-time while working in Corporate America & she worked side jobs to fund TUGMS. By November 2020, Shontel Anestasia was running her business full-time on Etsy. She continued her path as a Spiritual Teacher on social media gaining over 300k+ supporters across Tiktok, Instagram, Youtube, Facebook & Twitter. Due to her popularity and being the face of The Urban Gurvi Mama Shop, this shop has been featured in major media outlets such as CNBC Make It & Covetuer Magazine.
